« The Altra FWD VIA 2 moves the series in the right direction and solves several problems from the first model. We found in the lab that the new midsole is far softer, and on our runs the shoe felt much more comfortable and protective underfoot. We also liked the improved grip and the classic ultra-wide toebox that make Altra shoes so distinctive. However, the new foam still does not deliver strong energy return, which keeps the ride from feeling lively. From our perspective, it’s a good daily trainer, but we think it still needs a few upgrades to fully justify its price. »
